Photo of Derek Whitworth From April 16 to 18 2012, the first ‘EuroBrake 2012’ industry congress will be taking place at the International Congress Center in Dresden, Germany. As a member of the Advisory Board and Programme Committee, TMD Friction will be represented by plenary and technical speakers, as well as a stand at the accompanying exhibition. The event organisers are the International Federation of Automotive Societies (FISITA) and VDI-Gesellschaft Fahrzeug- und Verkehrstechnik (VDI-FVT, Vehicle and Transportation Technology Group of the German Association of Engineers). EuroBrake offers the perfect platform for leading representatives of the friction materials sector to come together and share ideas.

Europe is leading the way in the research, development and manufacture of high-technology brake systems. Against this backdrop and based on experiences with national events in France and the United Kingdom, the national bodies decided to establish EuroBrake as a joint event on a European level. The first congress is now taking place in Germany in 2012. The focal point is more than 100 presentations made by international experts on issues such as brake system design, structural analysis of NVH, friction materials, modelling and simulation.

Participants can also look forward to plenary addresses from high-level representatives from industry and science, including TMD Friction. Derek Whitworth, President & CEO, TMD Friction Group, is a member of the Advisory Board for EuroBrake 2012. “Much of the development and manufacture of high technology brake systems happens here in Europe. EuroBrake clearly fills a gap in our technological landscape and I’m pleased to support it,” says Whitworth. His plenary address will centre on the future of friction.

In the subject area of Friction Materials, experts from TMD Friction will be chairing technical sessions on Advanced Friction Couples and Friction Couple Dynamics. Specialists from the company will also be making technical presentations on the subject of Mesoscopic Particle System for Modelling Anisotropic Effects of Friction Materials and on Real Life Dynamometer Wear Testing.

At the accompanying exhibition, more than 45 companies from the sector will be presenting innovations from their research and development activities. TMD Friction can be found at stand 28.
