AN innovative ‘pop up’ vehicle repair workshop is the latest contract to be secured by Morpeth-based motor equipment supplier Gott Technical Services in a deal worth £50,000.
Gott provided the equipment within the unique temporary service centre at Benfield Motor Group’s new multimillion pound flagship Ford dealership in Newcastle Road in Sunderland whilst the main showroom is being constructed.
‘Pop up retail’ is a craze, which trend analyst trendwatching.com says is increasing in popularity across the world as a way for businesses and landlords to generate extra income in a short space of time.
Using recycled equipment from a Northumberland workshop no longer in use set within a canvas and steel frame, the pop-up workshop will play an essential part in maintaining Benfield’s customers and current business until the new structure is fully operational in Spring 2013.
Benfield group facilities manager Peter Younger said: “The temporary showroom and service centre has been instrumental in helping us build and develop the Benfield brand and reputation in Wearside whilst the new site is being built.
“The brief was a difficult one because we needed Gott to decommission and relocate 10 two-post lifts from an unused workshop in Northumberland and then safely reinstall them at our temporary dealership in Sunderland in just a few weeks.
“All of the equipment was installed seamlessly, on time and within budget and is already proving to be a success.”
Gott Technical Services Director Ian Gott said: “Benfield is a major player within the automotive industry, which is why we are particularly pleased to be able to meet the needs of the business. The pop-up workshop is a first for us so it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our services in such an innovative and challenging way, which will hopefully lead to more of the same as new dealerships open across Benfield’s portfolio.”
Benfield’s new £5 million Ford development will be completed in the Spring of 2013 and will include a 14 car showroom, a full Aftersales service and Service and Repair Centre.
Gott currently has more than 500 active clients from small garages to large multi-site motor retail groups. It also operates as a consultancy in the public transport, haulage, local government and emergency service sectors.
