A FAMILY-run North East motoring service that rescued more than 600 vehicles within only 48 hours during the recent flood disasters has scooped three national awards.
CF Motoring Services, which operates from three sites across the region employing over 100 staff, has been named as National Contractor of the Year in both the acclaimed RAC and AA annual recovery awards.
The company also came runner up for its body repair services in national WNS Assistance Bodyshop Oscars, which recognises the contribution of the Top 40 best performing bodyshops in its network.
CF Motoring is a 24-hour vehicle recovery and breakdown service that also specialises in car body repair; it is contracted through national motoring organisations, leading insurance companies, fleet operators as well as a call out service for private motorists.
The company has attributed its award wins to its recent significant investment in training, industry infrastructure and technologies. It is the only company in the UK to have a ‘Retriever Motorcycle’ as part of its fleet of vehicle recovery services, which aims to cut road congestion and carbon footprint with an approximate time of just eight minutes to arrive at a breakdown scene and remove it from the roadside.
It has invested in a new head office and call centre facility in the Gateshead Team Valley trading estate, which also includes a repair workshop.
A robotic paint drying service, which cuts down the length of time it takes a vehicle to get repaired and repainted from a week to only a couple of days, also forms part of the company’s recent investment in technology.
Headed up by Chief Executive Fred Calvert, his brother Bill and son Philip look after the day to day running of the business as joint Managing Directors, backed up by Leo Calvert the recovery operations manager. Bill said: “It’s fantastic news for our company that within only two-months we have won three national awards, which is a testament to our dedicated team and service record.
“The company began almost 35 years ago, with just one car and a trailer so it is very rewarding to see where we are now – with a 100 plus strong team, 38 roadside recovery vehicles and three offices across the region.
“A great example of our work can be seen during last month’s floods where we worked around the clock to rescue more than 600 vehicles from dangerous breakdown situations within only two days. Where possible we have been able to repair flood damaged vehicles and are currently working with insurance providers across the country to help get these vehicles back on the road.”
CF Motoring has growth plans in place to invest more in greener processes, reduce its carbon footprint and vehicle emissions. Phil Calvert said: “We pride ourselves on being a one stop shop for all motoring problems, offering more than just roadside recovery, with specialist car body repair workshops, MOT testing facilities, recovery vehicle sales, a courtesy car service and in emergencies we even offer an overnight stay provision.
“Where we can we will repair vehicles at the scene rather than recover them, to reduce carbon footprint and cost. Greener technologies and systems are where we are hoping to take the business in the future, forming part of our expansion plans to also recruit more staff and open more workshops across the region.”
