The girls of Macrae and Dick are raising funds for the Highland Breast Centre in Inverness after posing for a MAD Girls calendar.
The campaign, which has 28 voluntary female models from the highland car dealership, was launched on October 27 and hopes to raise over £7500 for the centre that helps support sufferers and families of breast cancer – from diagnosis right through the treatment to when they hopefully return to a healthy lifestyle.
The MAD Girls calendar, was the brain child of both Sheena McLeod and Kirsty Woollard as a result of Sheena being diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2009. After receiving radiotherapy and chemotherapy, as well as having three operations in the last year, Sheena was advised by doctors not to take part in a previously planned sponsored ‘Bra Walk’, meaning both Sheena and Kirsty had to come up with another idea to raise funds – and the MAD Girls calendar came to fruition.
Sheena states: “We were initially worried that not enough girls would volunteer for the 12 months however we ended up with 28 ladies who all appear in the calendar, either individually or as groups. All the girls were fantastic in giving up their time and posing in a variety of ways – and weather conditions – to help this great cause.
“The calendar is quite risqué and very classy, and has a motoring theme throughout – something for everyone!”
Sheena knows first-hand the great work the Highland Breast Centre does and believes it’s great to give something back to an establishment that gave her so much support and care. She said: “I can’t praise the staff highly enough at the centre, the care and help they gave me was first class, something that I really appreciate. This calendar is about giving something back to the centre and I really hope we can raise more than the target set.”
The girls have printed 750 calendars and have already sold 500 of them to members of the public within the Inverness area. All Calendars cost £10 plus postage and packaging and can be ordered by either writing to The MAD Girls, Macrae and Dick, 66 Harbour Road, Inverness, IV1 1JX or by calling Sheena or Kirsty on 01463 230 430.
