Following the launch of its annual Garage of the Year contest to seek out the most reliable and trustworthy UK garages, the provider of OFT-backed codes of practice for the car industry, Motor Codes, has released information about the calls it receives to its advice line, looking at where in Britain motorists seek advice about garages most often.
Topping the table with almost a third of cases opened about car servicing and repair is London and the South-East but, suggesting a north-south divide in satisfied motoring, consumers in the north-east look to be receiving great service from their garage, with only 2% coming from this area of the UK.
Reviewing the figures, Chris Mason, Motor Codes Managing Director, points to the effectiveness of the advice line and issues a call to motorists to help spread the word about where the best UK garages are.
“Our advice line offers independent help to motorists, whether they have a service and repair issue or simply a question about a garage.
“The good news is that the vast majority of calls to our advice line are for exactly that – advice – and the serious side of looking at where the most satisfied customers are is that only 7% of calls last year relating to Motor Codes garages required any formal intervention. Our Garage of the Year initiative will help show people where to go for first-class, OFT-approved service and we encourage you to go online and vote for your garage.”
The Motor Codes Garage of the Year contest, brought to you by Havoline, is a nationwide initiative to find the most consistently reliable garages, based on public feedback and votes. Open to all garages, both independents and franchised dealers, the aim of the competition is to find the UK’s best, based on trust, customer service, quality of work and value for money. More than 6500 OFT-approved Motor Codes garages are already signed up to the competition.
