A win at Brands Hatch

Martin Tomczyk, driving the Schaeffler-sponsored Audi A4, has won the latest round of the DTM championship in front of thousands of fans at Brands Hatch, taking him to the top of the championship.

Heavy rain resulted in a thrilling race before the German in his 2008-spec Audi A4 DTM – sporting the logos of Schaeffler’s market leading LuK clutch, INA tensioners and FAG wheel bearings’ brands – took first place thereby toppling Canadian Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz) from the lead in the drivers’ standings with three rounds left to run.

He said: “This was an incredibly exciting race. I really enjoyed the ride. We keep on pushing and will thus make the battle for the title exciting.”

Tomczyk’s fellow Audi drivers Mattias Ekström from Sweden and Italian Edoardo Mortara completed a clean sweep on the podium for Audi.

DTM, which stands for Deutsche Tourenwagen-Meisterschaft (German Touring Car Championship), is Europe‘s most popular touring car race series with rounds staged in a number of countries outside of Germany.
