Jamie Newlands, Dealer Principal at Henrys Honda spoke to Scots Auto Scene about the dealership, customer service and what sets them apart.

 

Q – History and background to the dealership?

A – Henrys has been established since 1927, acquiring the Honda franchise in 1980. It is a family run business, with family members being involved in every aspect of day to day jobs.

 

Q – What services and facilities does the premises offer?

A – Henrys Honda offers sales service, Motability scheme and body repairs.

 

Q – In terms of the workshop, how many MOT bays are on site?

A – There are 10 bays, with two MoT ramps on site.

 

Q – What bespoke ‘Honda’ features does the dealership have?

A – For five years, Henrys has been in training with the Honda retail experience, giving an insight into best customer practices. Once a month, sales and service team members, along with management, participate in two hour sessions that entail everything from how to engage a customer when they walk into the showroom, to how sales people should be prospecting existing customers.

 

Q – How do you ensure excellent customer care?

A – Henrys Honda prides itself on treating every customer fairly and making sure that best practice service is provided on the first attempt.

 

Q – What sort of staff training is involved?

A – All members of the team attended a Honda training centre for their induction to learn the expected standards expected of them. This is alongside all sales staff being FCA compliant.

 

Q – Can you give me an example of going the extra mile for a customer?

A – Henrys Honda doesn’t solely service local customers, but also supplies cars all over the UK, from small Scottish islands, and right down to London.

 

Q – What gives Honda a unique proposition to customers?

A – Honda has been voted the most reliable car manufacturer by Which! magazine nine times. In 2017, for the seventh year running, Hondacare Assistance has retained its prestigious Which? Recommended Provider status in recognition of its market-leading manufacturer breakdown cover, receiving an even higher customer satisfaction score than in 2016.

In addition, the dealer network achieved top ratings on the Reevoo customer review website. An outstanding 97% of customers on the site would recommend the Honda dealership they visited.

 

Q – Any news, development or updates?

A – Henrys Honda has recently undergone a showroom refurbishment. It now boasts a whole host of new facilities for customers, including a bigger, more comfortable lounge area featuring disabled access toilets, refreshments, TV and a customer information station with free Wi-Fi and exclusive children’s zone. The showroom has been completely remodelled in order to give buyers more room to view the vehicles on display and offer a more sophisticated customer experience.

 

Q – What is in store for the rest of 2018?

A – Hot on the heels of the tenth generation Honda Civic this Spring, the all-new Civic Type R is set to arrive in the showroom later this summer, which will be a fantastic addition to the range.
