Richard Murray.

Chevron is pleased to announce one of the world’s leading professional triathletes, Richard Murray, as a brand ambassador, supporting the launch of the new Havoline range, including the advanced Havoline ProDS, across Europe in 2017.

Richard has already begun his 2017 competitive season in style, including two victories from two at the International Triathlon Union (ITU) Cape Town World Cup race and the Xterra South African Championships.

Commenting on Richard’s new role, James Welchman, marketing manager EMEA, Chevron Lubricants said: “Our values centre on long-term performance and endurance – a perfect match with Richard and his highly competitive spirit.  We’re creating a new way for our customers to identify with Havoline and its ProDS range and, with triathlon now a major, globally recognised sport, we wanted to start a new relationship with one of the world’s leading athletes.”

Richard Murray was equally enthusiastic: “It’s the first time I’ll be working with a brand outside of the sport and the buzz around this partnership is unbelievable. When growing up I tinkered with my cars, probably spending more on them than they were worth. But, I always realised that the most important thing was to look after them, to make sure I could get to training and races. As a professional triathlete protecting my body is crucial and no different to Havoline protecting a car’s engine – so being an ambassador feels like a natural fit.”

Comma has launched a new mobile app, designed to provide workshops with a quick and easy way to look up recommended products for any vehicle.

‘Comma Oil Finder’, compatible with Apple and Android mobile devices, prompts garage technicians to take a photograph of a vehicle’s licence plate. The app then automatically details the most suitable Comma products for that vehicle, as well as available pack sizes.

Should the vehicle’s registration number not be available, the same information can be retrieved by manual make and model look-up.

The ‘Comma Oil Finder’ app also gives access to enhanced information about a vehicle’s MOT and road tax status and can be downloaded from the App store and Google Play.

By using the ‘Comma Oil Finder’ app, Professional Partner Programme (PPP) members will also collect points to redeem against merchandise and gifts for every vehicle look-up they perform. Technicians who are not already enrolled in PPP – which is a password-protected portal exclusively for professional workshop technicians and entirely free to join – can register for immediate acceptance via the Comma Oil app.

Other benefits of membership include participation in the celebrated Performance Motor Oils ‘StickerSmart’ premium gift promotion, informative Comma ‘Tech Talk’ technical bulletins, online product training and high value monthly competitions.

“The rapid increase in the use of mobile devices for professional as well as personal and leisure interests shows no sign of abating,” said Sales & Marketing Director, Mike Bewsey. “As the company that pioneered online application data by VRN, we’re always looking to embrace the latest information technology for the benefit and convenience of service technicians.”

Mr Bewsey also noted that the applications landscape for engine oils in particular is now almost entirely engine or vehicle specific, with vehicle manufacturers insisting on use of the correct oil in servicing regimes as a warranty-critical condition. “Technicians can rely on the new ‘Comma Oil Finder’ app with complete confidence in the accuracy and comprehensiveness of its applications data, all of which is backed by a 100% product guarantee of compatibility and quality,” he said.

German oil and additive specialist LIQUI MOLY presents a new online appearance. The company has now relaunched its website liqui-moly.com. “It not only looks more attractive, it also offers improved functions,” said Peter Baumann, LIQUI MOLY Marketing Manager.

The Oil Guide that tells users which is the right oil for a particular vehicle has now been expanded. And it’s easier to use the supply search function listing importers, retailers and garages in a particular country that sell LIQUI MOLY. The product database has been revised, too, so as to provide details of the more than 4000 products both quickly and in a clearly structured format. The website now offers numerous application tips (“Is it OK to mix motor oils?”) and also background knowledge (“What is motor oil actually made of?”)

“liqui-moly.com is the international gateway to the world of LIQUI MOLY,” said Peter Baumann. “It’s the hub of our international communication.” The website is visited 250,000 times per month. Available in English, Spanish and French, the new website is entirely responsive, as well as allowing unlimited use on smartphones and tablets – after all, liqui-moly.com is increasingly attracting mobile users.

And the relaunch is not over yet: the national websites that are centrally managed by LIQUI MOLY are also due to receive the new design in the near future.
