Rising motor racing driver, Colin Noble (20) who’s sponsored by Midlothian car dealers, Alex F Noble & Son Nissan, is playing a major role in securing Scottish racing team Ecurie Ecosse’s near perfect start to the season.

2017 sees Ecurie Ecosse’s return to sports car racing on the 60th anniversary of its famous 24 Hours of Le Mans win.

Competing in both the Michelin Le Mans Cup in Europe and in the Henderson LMP3 Cup Championship in the UK, Ecurie Ecosse is running two Ligier LMP3 racing cars prepared by Nielsen Racing.

Colin, who hails from Penicuik in Midlothian, is the son of Colin Noble Snr, himself a former championship winning racing driver and director of Alex F Noble & Son.

Colin is teamed up for the season with Ecurie Ecosse director and driver, Alasdair McCaig in the LMP3 Cup and quite a pairing it has so far proved to be.

The opening round of the championship at Donington Park on the weekend of April 21-23, saw the team secure back to back debut wins in fine style, with McCaig running strongly only for Noble to take over the car in both events and push to the front.

There was a short pause ahead of the first race of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at Monza in Italy on the weekend of May 12-13 where Noble teamed up with Tony Wells, who ironically is a rival in the LMP3 Cup.

The pairing proved formidable, with Wells qualifying second at the ultra-high speed circuit, maintaining his pace in the race before handing over to Noble who once again rose to the challenge and moved to the front of the field to take a sensational debut win in the series.

Ecurie Ecosse’s latest action was back in the LMP3 Cup at Brands Hatch over the weekend of May 19-21. Noble and McCaig had to settle for second best – to Monza racer Wells – in the first race of the weekend, but the second saw the duo record the third win of the season after late race contact eliminated the leader, handing victory again to Noble.

Colin Noble said: “We could not have asked for a better start to our season both in the Le Mans Cup and the British LMP3 cup with three wins and a second position out of four races.  We must now keep finishing consistently well to stay ahead of our competitors.

“This is my first season driving with Alasdair and the LMP3 and we are really pushing each other as hard as we can to get these results. The whole team has gelled very well and there is a great vibe in the team right now. We just need to keep our heads down and are looking forward to the next meetings at Spa Francorchamps and Le Mans.”

Leading automotive retailer Stratstone has hosted Porsche customers for a weekend of luxury at prestigious motorsport race Le Mans.

Guests who opted for the luxury package have enjoyed helicopter riders, champagne receptions and entry to one of the world’s most famous motorsport races.

The Le Mans endurance race is the oldest sports car race in the world and this year is its 85th anniversary. Organised by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the circuit contains a mix of public roads and specialist motor racing circuits. The 24-hour race on Le Mans roads is the ultimate endurance test for competing drivers, and their cars.

The Stratstone Porsche Le Mans Experience is a yearly calendar highlight for many Porsche customers. This year guests enjoyed delicious dinners in the heart of Amboise, day trips and free time in the Loire region and beautiful city of Amboise, plus entry to the Musée des 24 Heures-Circuit de le Sarthe ahead of entering the Le Mans circuit.

McLaren Glasgow has been named McLaren European Retailer of the Year for the second year running, in recognition of its sales performance and highest standards of business operation.

The Retailer of the Year programme saw entries from the full McLaren retailer network in Europe, comprising 21 locations in nine key markets. All contenders were benchmarked using an extensive assessment process and rated in key areas such as sales, customer service, aftersales and marketing. McLaren Glasgow emerged as the European Retailer of the Year 2016, joining McLaren retailers in Auckland, Toronto, Kuwait City and Shanghai as one of five regional finalists for the Global Retailer of the Year 2016 Award, due to be announced later this year.

McLaren Glasgow was also named McLaren Global Retailer of the Year 2015 following an award ceremony in London attended by Mike Flewitt, CEO, and Jolyon Nash, Executive Director – Global Sales and Marketing, as well as finalists from across the McLaren global retailer network. McLaren Glasgow, the company’s first retailer in Scotland, impressed the internal judging panel with consistently exceptional scores across all key business areas, not least customer service.

The global competition saw 80 locations across 30 markets in the running for the award. Retailers were scored based on performance against a range of targets including new and used car sales, customer satisfaction, aftersales performance and general operating standards. Direct customer feedback was utilised in evaluating each dealer’s performance.
