DuPont Refinish and Caterham F1 Team continue to work together in 2013

DuPont Refinish photoFor the fourth consecutive year DuPont Refinish has been named Official Technical Supplier to the Caterham F1 Team. The aftermarket paint brand supplies its high-tech paint systems for the team’s racecars and show cars, as well as providing training to the in-house refinishers.

With two new drivers – Charles Pic, in his second F1 season, and F1 rookie Giedo van der Garde, Holland’s first F1 driver in six years – the Caterham F1 Team is looking forward to the challenges the 2013 season presents.

In preparation for the new season, the Caterham F1 Team decided to update its iconic green and yellow livery. Caterham F1 Team knew exactly who to turn to for help – DuPont Refinish. Richard St. Clair Quentin, Business Development Manager at Caterham F1 Team, says, “we wanted a new, fresher yellow and a new green that stood out even more on the track and on TV so we asked our dedicated team at DuPont Refinish to create a more electric green with a metallic effect element. DuPont Refinish gave us ten fantastic colour samples, all slightly different, but one really captured our request and the results can be seen on CT03, our 2013 race car. The new livery has been very well received in the media and by our fans so we are delighted that DuPont Refinish has helped us create something that exactly met our brief. Now we have one more important task left – all iconic F1 liveries have a name so we will soon be unveiling something very exciting that will help us name what we believe is the best livery on the F1 grid.”

And that is not the only change for 2013. St. Clair Quentin says, “2013 is going to be an interesting year for us. The engine change rules for next season means we’ve begun the 2013 season with a hybrid 2012 / 2013 car, with the full 2013 spec CT03 race car scheduled to debut in time for the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona in mid-May. This has allowed the team to start work on its 2014 car earlier than a number of our rivals. We plan to continue our fight for tenth place, with the long-term goal of fighting the midfield teams still a possibility in 2013, and likely in 2014.”

Anthony Cashel, DuPont Refinish Brand Marketing Specialist, UK and Ireland, says, “we wanted to create a completely bespoke, totally unique green for the team, but we had to balance that with the reality that the new colour still had to allow the team’s partners’ branding to be visible. We’re very happy with the outcome, as is Caterham F1 Team.”
